Island Escape

A couple of weeks ago, my friends & I headed to the island of Nantucket for a little mini-vacation. One of my friends' family had rented a house there, and kindly invited 3 of us to stay for two nights. I had only spent a tiny amount of time on Nantucket previously, so it was a great opportunity to explore the island and relax!

We took the ferry to the island in the morning, and got to town 2 hours later. We immediately stopped at The Juice Bar for smoothies. The Juice Bar is a very famous ice cream/smoothie shop that has a line around the corner every night after dinner!

Feeling refreshed after the boat ride, we explored the little residential side streets and went shopping at all the ACK classics: Vineyard Vines, Island Company and Lilly Pulitzer! We even saw the colorful & cheery Lilly jeep!

That night, even though it was foggy, we decided to head to the beach  for a little while (and had an impromptu photoshoot!)

It got chilly after a while so we headed home for burgers and hot dogs before the kind of blissful sleep that accompanies the first day of a vacation.

The next day was our main beach day for the trip.We got up and changed right into our bikinis and excitedly applied the metallic temporary tattoos we had bought. Every time a new one was applied, squeals of joy and exclamations of "that looks amazing!" could be heard from all. The pictures we took that day at the beach did turn out well, aided by our shiny new additions.

After hours of being tossed around by the playfully massive waves and lounging in the sun, we went back to clean up and get ready for dinner on the town! We went to The Tavern, which is right near the marina, in the middle of the nightlife. The scenes of well dressed island goers, beautiful yachts and shiny cars aren't too bad as you settle in for some lobster!

On our 3rd and final day on Nantucket, we headed to Jetties Beach. The water was much warmer and calmer than Madaket Beach, but we missed the wild waves to jump around in! The people watching on Jetties was superb though. We then got cleaned up, ordered in pizza, and had one last walk around town before getting on the boat back to reality!

All in all it was an absolutely wonderful way to spend a few days in paradise. I definitely want to come bACK (I should really be a comedian) to Nantucket as much as possible!

Have you ever been? If so, what are your favorite things to do there?
